How can I run TntMPD on Linux?

Hello, Im'm trying to installt TNTConnect in linuxmint 17 and get an error "could not load SSL library". Installing openssl-dev etc. changed nothing

Has someone an idea?

I bet the Winetricks script has an option to install the MS XML Parser 6.0:  wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks  Try running that first, so that the TntConnect installation doesn't have to.

I cannot found any information for this winetricks option on the website.

Then I have download the necessary files manually from download.tntware.com but cannot install them in the wine drive.

Downloading exe-files from MS and installing them  works only for the Access Database Engine.

There are missing

mdac2.8  - not working, files I found are not installable in wine

MS Jet 4.0 SP8 - not working, files I found are not installable in wine

XML Parser is also installable from a MS file but the TNTConnect - Setup don't recognize it.

Google chromium embedded framework - I don't know which version and where to found it.

Other ideas?

See if you can use "winetricks" to install the MS XML Parser 6.0 before installing TntConnect.  That way TntConnect won't need to install it.

I am having similar issues with installing TntConnect.  I was able to use winetricks to install msdac 2.8, and MS Jet 4.0, and TntConnect recognises that they are installed but when using winetricks to install MS XML Parser 6.0, it does not recognise that it has been installed.  Also can't get it to recognise the chromium embedded framework installation.  Any thought?

This is a very important comment, though it seems to have been completely ignored. For most Linux users, wine is not a suitable option, even if it works for some in the short term. Can someone please answer the question: is there any development timeline for a native Linux version of this program?

Unfortunately, there are no plans for a native Linux version of TntConnect.  Linux is not an officially supported platform, just PC and Mac.  Is TntConnect on Wine not working for you?  Why do you say it's not a "suitable" option?

Hi Troy, the latest version of Linux Mint (19 - based on Ubuntu Bionic) appears to break support for the older versions of Wine which ran TNT successfully in the past. I was unable to get TNT working with the default Wine package (3.0.1-ubuntu). I also was unable to get it running with PlayOnLinux using the older versions that worked in the past. I've switched to a VirtualMachine running Windows 10 for now to get TNT working. I'll be curious to see if any other users can find the right combination of Wine packages to make it work with Wine 3.x versions.

Next year, I'm hoping to do a major refresh of TntConnect for Mac, to support Mac's soon to come requirement for 64-bit support.  So I believe I'll have to support the latest version of Wine at this point.  This will probably help with Wine support beyond that which TntConnect for Mac includes (which is Wine 1.7.53)

Not at snap but at flatpak: I created a flatpak package for TntConnect: beilharz-family.de/.../tntconnect.html

I have was able to install the flatpak TntConnect but it will not connect to my database. Even if I try to make a new database it fails. the error message indicates the problems is with the path:

    The database cannot be opened on the C:\ drive because it is not in your "My Documents" or "Desktop" directory.

    Database = Z:\var\data\tntconnect\dosdevices\c:\users\kencora\My Documents\klay-tntmpd.mpddb

    My Documents = C:\users\kencora\My Documents

    Desktop = C:\users\kencora\Desktop.

I looked at the paths on my drive and they do not agree with the ones indicated above as I understand it. I do not see how to set the paths.

Even though the database shows up when you let TntConnect search for it or in the File Open dialog it won't open. You'll have to explicitly

select "/" in the "Look in" drop down and navigate to your database in /home/<username>/Documents/...
