Backup & Restore Databases

Making backups of your DonorWise database is an important step in ensuring the safety of your DonorWise database. While you will make your backup to the Microsoft SQL Server directory, it is critically important that you also copy your backup to an external drive or CD (using Windows Explorer or some other software). This is important because if the server that DonorWise is running on is no longer accessible (either because it crashes, is stolen, or destroyed by some unexpected incident) you will need an external copy to restore.

How do you suggest we schedule a backup to run periodically (e.g., nightly). Should we do this in SQL Server Management Studio or is there a better method?

Hi Malachi,  the way I schedule backups of SQL databases on my web server is to create a Scheduled Task that calls "osql" with a SQL script file I've created.
