We're preparing TntConnect for the GDPR coming to Europe on May 25. That's next Friday!
In 3.5.0, we added the "Privacy and Security" section to the Options dialog box. This way you can quick check your GDPR compliance in one place:
We've added additional security enhancements:
- We made Gift Input from your organization more secure. It will require TLS 1.2, the industry standard for secure internet communication. Older versions of the SSL/TLS protocol have become vulnerable to hackers and identity theft. Industry experts have been recommending disabling all versions of SSL and TLS 1.0 for a while now. [read more about this here]
- We also made uploading your newsletter list to an integrated newsletter service more secure. (such as prayerletters.com and Chalk Line)
Google Maps updates
Google is changing the terms of service for their Google Maps API this summer, and TntConnect 3.5.4 is fully compatible and ready to go. We anticipate that in a few months, older versions of TntConnect will no longer work with Google Maps.
Cryptocurrencies
TntConnect's multicurrency support has been enhanced with support for: Bitcoin, Bitcoin cash, Ethereum and Litecoin. Automatic exchange rate updates are even available for Bitcoin! So when a ministry partner donates a (fraction of a) Bitcoin, TntConnect is ready to track it.
DonorHub Online is more secure and ready for GDPR
For our ministries using DonorHub Online, we have taken steps to make it even more secure:
- TLS 1.2 is supported and will soon be required. We have turned off TLS 1.0 on our server, and TLS 1.1 will be turned off soon. This way you can be sure that when connecting to DonorHub Online, even from a coffee shop or hotel, the communication will be strongly encrypted and your data will remain protected.
- An organization can set a policy to require that TntConnect databases be encrypted. With this policy turned on, TntConnect cannot download gifts from DonorHub unless the database is on an encrypted hard drive. Along with training and helping your staff with encrypting their hard drives, setting this policy in DonorHub shows due diligence to data protection authorities that you're taking data protection seriously.
DonorHub is all about making your organization compatible with TntConnect. This way your staff can easily click a button in TntConnect to check for new gifts. Contact us if you'd like to be added to the ever growing list of compatible organizations!
Final Touches
If you're a volunteer translator, we'd be grateful for you to visit the translation center and update your translation of TntConnect. We'd like to release this version soon, so please download it, test it, and let us know what you find.
