This feature only applies when you receive donation data from your organization.
These instructions cover these two situations; the principle and resolution is the same for both situations:
1. | You have one contact who has two accounts with your organization, and now they are duplicated in your TntConnect database (two separate contacts that are really the same person). |
2. | You inadvertently connected a donor account to the wrong contact when downloading them for the first time, and now you want to move that account to the correct contact in TntConnect. |
Why you might have multiple accounts for one contact:
• | Two single contacts have married and combined their accounts. |
• | Your organization has inadvertently given this contact a new account #. (If this is the case, you may want to contact your organization and have the error corrected on their side.) |
• | Your contact gives both personally and through his business but you want to view the gifts together. |
• | Your contact has multiple, active donor accounts (for example, a husband and the wife both give, but from separate bank accounts). |
• | You were downloading gifts from your organization and inadvertently matched the new donor to the wrong contact |
Tutorial: Combining multiple accounts for one contact OR change a donor account to a different contact
1. | Select the contact whose account you want to move. |
2. | View your organization's information (). The text of the menu item will change to your organization's name or abbreviation. |
3. | Right-click on their account #. Select Link Account to a Different Contact |
4. | Select the correct contact from the list and press OK. |
5. | The original contact will remain in your contact list, but all gifts associated with their account # will be shown in the new contact. If you no longer need the old contact (e.g., it was a duplicate name, or the name of the single person who is now married), you can delete it. However, you may want to manually transfer any history related to that old contact as only the gifts moved by right-clicking on one (or more) tasks in their history and selecting Send to > Another Contact. |
6. | You can see which Account # they used for each gift by right-clicking on each gift and selecting "Edit Gift". |
Tip: You can undo an erroneously linked account by re-linking the account to the original contact or another contact.
Sometimes when downloading a donor for the first time, you accidentally select the wrong contact in TntConnect to connect to. Resolve this by following the same instructions as found in how to combine two donor accounts for the same contact.
