How do I get past, "A first, last or organization name must be entered for this contact., , No records were imported"?

When you import contacts, you can either import a contact

  • with just an Organization Name (no Title, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name or Suffix).
  • with a First Name and/or Last Name (no Organization Name).

Each contact must have either an Organization Name or it must have a First/Last Name.

If you are importing into the "Is Organization" field, then this must correspond appropriately.

If you want to specify where the contact works, use the "Company Name" for this purpose.

Here's a typical import, using First Name and Last Name:

Ok, I have tried all of that. I have filled in my husband/first name field with the single ladies, I have put Ms. in their spouse field just in case. I have tried adding the Is Organization and putting FALSE as the data in that column and still can't get it to work! Help!

Still getting the same error

"A first, last or organization name must be entered...", when importing contacts from a csv file?

I figured it out!  I started a new database (mine only had a few test people in it) and it worked!!! YEAH!!!

I am still getting this error message when I try to import a csv a file? First Name and Last Name are both inputed? What do I need to import my contacts?

Make sure the Organization Name field is left blank.  Unless you set "Is Organization" to TRUE.  In that case, set Organization Name, but leave first/last as blank.

Getting the same "A first, last or organization name must be entered..." error.  I believe that I have the right fields, i.e. First/Given Name and Last/Family name and I do not have an "Organization Name" field, so I am stumped as to what I am doing wrong.  Please help.

@m_penny00, perhaps you're import a "True" value into the "IsOrganization" field.  Or perhaps you're importing a row with nothing in first and last name.

how do you get the place where you can even import a "true" value into the "IsOrganization" field?  I don't even see the "IsOrganization" field... Seriously confused... help!

It has a space.  "Is Organization" is one of the fields you can import into.

Is it possible to import a list with Full Name column only, when both names are in the same cell and I match it with "Full Name" option in TNT. I get the same error message that everybody else here mentioned

You can't import into just the Full Name column.  But you could import a contact's full name into the "Last Name" column instead.

"It has a space.  "Is Organization" is one of the fields you can import into."

What has a space like that? The csv file? Mine has a column named "Organization." It's filled in where it is an organization and it's blank when it's not an organization. Do I need to change this? If so, what do I change to?

Jerry, map "Organization" -> "Organization Name" and you should be all set.  TntMPD will automatically determine which contacts are organizations when you don't have an organization name for individuals, and when you don't have individual fields (first/last/spouse) filled in for organizations.

Please amend the instructions to reflect that the user must drag First/Given Name  and such into the desired field.

I am importing csv file. I have checked that all of my contacts have a first AND last name. I do not have a "organization name" column. But when I hit import, it goes through my list one by one and gives me the error message "A first, last or organization name must be entered for this contact."

Hi Sally, Be sure to map the first/last name fields in your CSV file to TntConnect's first/last name fields.
