If you have a first name for the spouse, you must also have a first name for the primary (typically the husband). TntMPD will not let you leave the primary name blank but enter a spouse first name. This is due to the problems creating automatic greetings and names.

In a case where you do not know the husband's name, you could do one of the following:

Put "Mr" and "Mrs" (or the appropriate titles for your culture) with no first names

OR, Put the wife's name as the primary contact and have no husband's name.

I am trying to import contacts and I have a first and last name entered for each contact.  Why am I still getting this error?

By: Troy Wolbrink Posted on 19 Aug 2010 1:19 AM

@Linnea, this might be because you are importing into the "Organization Name" field or you might be importing into "Is Organization" with something other than "False".

If your import file has an "Organization Name" field, then it must also have an "Is Organization" field with a TRUE/FALSE value for every entry. If it's TRUE, then there must also be a name in the Organization Name cell in that row. If it is FALSE, then there cannot be anything in the Organization Name cell in that row.

Actually, you don't need to import into "Is Organization".  TntMPD will determine that if the "Organization Name" is entered and the individual name fields are blank (or vice versa).

Ok, I have tried all of that. I have filled in my husband/first name field with the single ladies, I have put Ms. in their spouse field just in case. I have tried adding the Is Organization and putting FALSE as the data in that column and still can't get it to work! Help!

Still getting the same error

"A first, last or organization name must be entered...", when importing contacts from a csv file?

I figured it out!  I started a new database (mine only had a few test people in it) and it worked!!! YEAH!!!

I am still getting this error message when I try to import a csv a file? First Name and Last Name are both inputed? What do I need to import my contacts?

Make sure the Organization Name field is left blank.  Unless you set "Is Organization" to TRUE.  In that case, set Organization Name, but leave first/last as blank.

Getting the same "A first, last or organization name must be entered..." error.  I believe that I have the right fields, i.e. First/Given Name and Last/Family name and I do not have an "Organization Name" field, so I am stumped as to what I am doing wrong.  Please help.

By: Troy Wolbrink Posted on 7 Jul 2011 5:38 AM

@m_penny00, perhaps you're import a "True" value into the "IsOrganization" field.  Or perhaps you're importing a row with nothing in first and last name.

how do you get the place where you can even import a "true" value into the "IsOrganization" field?  I don't even see the "IsOrganization" field... Seriously confused... help!

By: Troy Wolbrink Posted on 20 Apr 2012 6:30 PM

It has a space.  "Is Organization" is one of the fields you can import into.

Is it possible to import a list with Full Name column only, when both names are in the same cell and I match it with "Full Name" option in TNT. I get the same error message that everybody else here mentioned

By: Troy Wolbrink Posted on 29 May 2013 4:47 PM

You can't import into just the Full Name column.  But you could import a contact's full name into the "Last Name" column instead.
